QUIET TITLE - HEIRS PROPERTIES
James E. Reeves, P.A. assists heirs and
potential buyers of heirs property in clearing the title
to properties burdened with long standing title issues,
so that the properties can be marketable.
Many properties in South Carolina are burdened with the label of "heirs
property" or property that is owned by various family
members, some who do not even know they are owners. It
is not uncommon for property to still be deeded in the
name of a long deceased family member. When this
individual died, the family or a portion of the family,
continued to live on the property and pay the taxes. As
time went on other family members may have died and
their families continued to live on the property and pay
the taxes. Eventually, someone wants to purchase the
property, but upon reviewing a title search, does not
want to pay money to one family member, only to have
face the possibility of others claiming later that they
are also entitled to be
paid for their share of the property. A Quiet Title
action then becomes necessary so that the court can
determine who are the true owners and the proportion of
their ownership interest.
James E. Reeves, P.A. can assist clients through the
legal process so that valuable properties rendered
worthless because of these title issues can once again
be marketable. |
